The Islamic Society of Santa Barbara is proud and blessed to be an active part of the Santa Barbara community. We engage in a variety of outreach programs and are dedicated to building strong ties of friendship with all the people of Santa Barbara.

We are avid contributors to the Interfaith Initiative of Santa Barbara County, a group dedicated to fostering mutual understanding and appreciation among all faith communities. We have worked with our local chapter of Habitat for Humanity on special interfaith workdays. We are active with CLUE of Santa Barbara, a group that works towards economic justice for those who are marginalized in Santa Barbara County. Some of our sisters are members of the first west coast chapter of Saalam Shalom Sisterhood whose members work towards building bridges between Muslims and Jews They are now in the process of forming a second chapter. Over the years, our Imam, Yama Niazi, has participated in countless interfaith events such as being the keynote speaker at the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at First United Methodist Church, held retreats in partnership with La Casa de Maria and participated in several retreats in Santa Barbara along with other faith leaders in our community.

ISSB welcomes anyone and everyone to visit our place of worship and join us at our weekly congregational Friday service and other social events. Please contact us if you would like more information about these gatherings.
